The band “Zieminieki” plays slow and dirty black metal.

The band was formed in 1998 in Augšciems (Ropaži parish), in a setting defined by forests, swamps, a haunted house, and an atmosphere of underground music improvisation. The core line-up consists of Satrakons (Jānis Zīraks) — guitar, and Armaggedons (Andrejs Planders) — drums, vocals.

In 2020, the band released a two-track EP “Augshceems” on Bandcamp. In 2023, with the support of “Sāpes Skaņas”, the album “NEHTE” was released, featuring raw black metal home recordings from the early 2000s.

The band meets for improvisational rehearsals in Augšciems and performs live for a wider audience very rarely.

The music is influenced by the Norwegian black metal scene of the 1990s and heavy electronic music. The songs explore themes of life and death, nature, and paranormal phenomena.
